| Honouring Rites of Passage
|
The Unitarian Church of Vancouver offers ceremonies led by lay chaplains to honour various rites of passage.
Our lay chaplains are licensed by the Province of British Columbia to perform weddings, including those for same-sex couples.
Additional rites of passage offered are: celebrations of life, memorials or funerals; child naming and dedication services; and services from interfaith and earth-based spirituality.
|
| Creating a Ceremony
|
Lay chaplains work closely with families and celebrants to create special services that are particular to the people and the occasion.
At a meeting with a lay chaplain, couples will be given many options for the ceremony, including elements such as blessings, readings, vows, symbols of love, music, and candle lighting.

| The LGBT Community
|
The Unitarian Church of Vancouver includes and expresses the concerns of bisexual, gay, lesbian and transgender persons at every level of congregational life.
We celebrate the lives of all people and welcome same-sex couples.
Since same-sex marriages are legal in British Columbia, our lay chaplains have created many nondenominational weddings for the LGBT community.
